Bletchingdon Parent Teacher Association
Registered Charity no. 1158025
Bletchingdon School has strong links with parents and an active PTA which holds a variety of events and activities throughout the year, fulfilling both a social and fundraising role. All parents and carers of children currently at the school and all current members of staff are automatically members of the PTA.
Since September 2013, the PTA has raised just over £5,000 by running popular events, both independently and alongside activities in the school calendar. These have included a sponsored personal challenge for pupils, a parents’ quiz night, car wash, Christmas raffle, childrens’ winter disco, a spring fayre and silent auction, a crafting grotto at the Victorian Christmas fayre and a teddy bears’ picnic. The PTA has also organised professional printing of Christmas cards designed by pupils, commissioned and sold class and whole school photographs, and held regular cake and ice-cream sales.
Funds raised so far have been used to match fund a grant to enable the school to purchase iPads, and to purchase 3 of the 24 new computers needed to deliver the new curriculum from September 2014. Two new picnic benches have been installed in the Orchard. Additionally, the PTA contributes towards the cost of special activities during the school year. Future funds will go towards specific resources for our new school, due to open in September 2015, as well as those immediately benefitting the children.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month in term time, at the School at 8pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and ideas for future events are always welcome. The PTA could not work effectively without the support of it receives from its members, from donating prizes, cakes, contacts and manpower to turning up at events - so do please get involved!
The Committee for 2014/15 is:
Emma Bradney (Chair); Kare Ransome (Vice-Chair); Elaine Hurst (Treasurer); Joannah Cherry; Sue Davies; Donna Horwood; Sarah Timms; Vicky Walton and Grace Williams.
