The YMCA is an innovative local charity which provides:
Supported Housing: A range of supported accommodation options for up to 150 young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This short-term accommodation [6 months to 2 years] is linked to life, social and resettlement skill development. The projects also links with initiatives to develop basic skills, job search and ICT usage.
Drug and Alcohol Support: Operating The Bridge Project in Wolverhampton which helps people struggling with addiction issues to gain freedom and to move on with their lives.
ICT Training / Adult Guidance: The ICT / IAG facilities provides free internet access, email, games and IT training to Foyer residents and the local community. Local residents can also access information, advice and guidance on future education, training or employment opportunities.
Childcare & Family Support: Three Day Nurseries, registered to provide care and education for up to a total of over 200 children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years.
Fitness Centre & Community Cafe: Our fully equipped gymnasium with qualified instructors provides individually tailored programmes and health assessments to improve health and fitness. The community café is part of Sandwell’s Healthy Living Network and provides a healthy menu incorporating a ‘5-a-day’ message. The Dance Studio, Mini Gym and Sports Hall provides a host of programmed and hireable facilities.
