Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Association (IA) is a national organisation specialising in the support of people living with an ileostomy or internal pouch; their family, friends or carers. IA is a support network throughout the UK and Ireland, run by volunteers who are themselves living with an ileostomy or internal pouch.
As a registered charity, IA provides support services such as a IA's Journal - a quarterly magazine full of articles from people living life after surgery; medical articles, company adverts highlighting the latest products/services and readers letters. IA's patient-focused literature is written by patients, reviewed by healthcare professionals and provides a wealth of information.
IA's visiting service puts volunteers, trained to listen, in touch with others who are looking to speak with someone who has been through a similar experience. The benefit of speaking with someone who has been through a similar experience should not be underestimated.
With continued investment in research in areas that have a positive impact on a person's quality of life when living with an ileostomy or internal pouch, your donations or support can help IA to continue providing a strong and trusted support network to people at a time when they often feel most vulnerable.
