A dwindling band of 111 veterans, Britain’s most
loyal allies in the war against Japan 1942-45 is
stranded in the crowded refugee camps along the
Thai-Burma border. Other old soldiers and war
widows are trying to survive in areas inside Burma
which were once quasi-autonomous states, and have
been devasted by over 60 years of civil war.
