AFRUCA Champions Commence Basic Training in Child Protection for Communities

Date Posted: 03 Jul 2014

With the intensive two day Child Protection training received by our first set of Children’s Champions, AFRUCA is now set to roll out our Basic Child Protection Programme for Community and Faith groups across London and the South of England.

Over the next two years,  100 AFRUCA Children’s Champions who are members of the African community are being recruited and trained. Their aim would be to help educate other parents on how to keep children safe from abuse and harm. The ultimate aim of the project is to help reduce the high numbers of African children going into care.

We would like to have faith and community groups partner with AFRUCA to host FREE training workshops for members of their groups which will cover basic child protection, cultural practices and their impact on safeguarding children in the UK. The training will be delivered by our Children’s Champions. AFRUCA will meet the costs involved in hosting the event.

For further information, kindly contact the Project Co-ordinator Iro at iro@afruca.org or by telephone on 0207 7042261. There is a huge interest in this project so please express your interest as soon as possible if you would like to take part.

Together, we can protect and safeguard our children
