Starlight Children's Foundation

Registered Charity Number: 296058
London,

Starlight is a children’s charity that creates a great impact on the lives of seriously and terminally ill children and their families throughout the UK.

Starlight’s mission is to lighten up the lives of seriously and terminally ill children, through the granting of magical wishes-of-a-lifetime and by bringing fun entertainment in hospitals and hospices meant to distract children from the pain, fear and isolation caused by the illnesses from which they are suffering.
Operating throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, Starlight helped over 500,000 children in 2013.

Starlight was co-founded in 1986 by British actress Emma Samms and her cousin Peter Samuelson.
All Starlight’s activities are put in place to distract children from the pain, fear and isolation they can due to their illnesses.

Starlight is now supporting children suffering from those illness; leukaemia and other cancers, heart disease, cystic fibrosis and other genetic conditions, as well as more routine childhood illnesses and injuries that require hospitalisation.

In partnership with healthcare professionals, the charity has developed a programme of year-round entertainment for children to give everyone happy memories to share, no matter what the future may hold. Starlight isn’t supported by government nor Lottery funds.
