Shine

Registered Charity Number: 1117954
Hitchin,

Shine believes that every child has the right to a basic education. Unfortunately, in poverty stricken countries such as Zambia, this is not a reality. Thousands of children are trapped in a cycle of poverty without the basic literacy and numeracy skills they need to fight their way out. At Shine we believe that by sharing the gift of literacy with these children, we are tackling one of the underlying causes of poverty, giving children in the poorest parts of Africa hope for the future. Shine has recently built a literacy school for orphans and vulnerable children called Shine Zambia Reading Academy. Set in one of the poorest townships of Zambia’s capital city, the school employs local teachers trained by Shine. We are now educating and feeding over 100 underprivileged children each year who would otherwise be out of education. Our hope is to employ and train more local teachers and establish more schools so that we can reach as many children as possible across Zambia. Reading gives children a chance to Shine. Anything that you can donate to support our charity will be very gratefully received and WILL make a difference to the lives of the children we serve.
