Did you know that 1 in every 7 people in the UK has a hearing loss? Deafness is the “invisible disability”, perhaps because there’s no obvious way to tell whether a person is deaf. Hi Kent was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2007 for our unique Volunteer Visiting Service which operates free clinics in communities all over Kent. This service enables people with a hearing loss to get the maximum benefit from their hearing aids, and from other assistive equipment, to help them overcome the socially isolating aspects of being deaf. Hi Kent supports thousands of deaf and hard of hearing people, who are often among the most frail and vulnerable members of society, so they can continue to lead independent lives. We run 25 free Lipreading Classes throughout Kent. We also teach British Sign Language Levels 1 & 2 and offer Deaf Awareness Training. Please donate to Hi Kent now to make a huge difference to the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people in our region. Remembering Hi Kent in your Will will make a lasting difference to helping local deaf and hard of hearing people.
