    1. Kofi lived in Africa where the weather was always warm.

    2. “Phew it’s very hot today” said Kofi and he went to sit under a coconut tree in the shade.

    3. A strange looking spider with two large eyes crept down from the tree.

  • Bag Books profile image 4

    4. The spider whispered to Kofi and laughed, “I know a better way to cool down.”

    5. The spider ran back up the tree…

    6. ...and started shaking and shaking the branches.

    7. Lots of beautiful birds flew out of the tree and swirled around Kofi.

    8. And as the birds flapped their wings, Kofi felt a nice breeze all around his body.

Multi-sensory stories for people with learning disabilities.

Bag Books is the only organisation in the world publishing multi-sensory books specifically for people with learning disabilities. Each year we reach around 19,000 children and adults throughout the UK with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) or severely affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Our main activities are:

  • the design and production of a range of multi-sensory books. We make around 1,000 books each year in our craft workshop and each one takes an average of 8 hours to construct.
  • providing specialist multi-sensory storytellers. Around 5,000 people with learning disabilities take part in one of our storytelling sessions each year.
  • training others (parents, carers, librarians and teachers) in multi-sensory storytelling technique. We train around 500 people annually.
