Zoological Society of London, The

Founded in 1826, ZSL is an international scientific, conservation and education charity whose mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. Our mission is realised through our ground-breaking science at the Institute of Zoology, our active conservation projects in more than 50 countries and our two Zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. 

We inspire millions of people through education outreach and empower two million Zoo visitors to understand global biodiversity as well as helping to create the next generation of conservation leaders. 

Across every continent and ocean, animals face unprecedented threat. It’s vital that we help. Wildlife conservation is crucial to a healthy planet, in creating a thriving biosphere and sustaining us all culturally and economically, too. The plight of the natural world is a shared problem, requiring a global responsibility to deal with it.
