New tack room complete!

Date Posted: 14 Jan 2021

In May 2016 we were granted planning permission to replace our old, very tatty and cramped tack room, tractor shed and storage area with one, purpose built building.  It has taken four years of fund-raising and applying for grants but the building is now complete.

The new tack room is a bigger, more versatile area where we will have room to teach as well as room to move when lots of children are in there cleaning and putting away tack. The previous room was far too small and our tack was in danger of getting damaged because of this.

The old tractor shed was very tatty and in desperate need of replacing. The roof, walls and floors were all in a very poor state of repair and it was a mishmash of several smaller buildings all joined together. Our new,  purpose built building will be much more secure and it will mean that we can have proper storage areas for our equipment.

We also have two new stables built into the new structure which will be invaluable to us.  We have 25 horses and only 8 stables so two extra stables will be a real help to us.  Although we try and have most horses living out 24/7, we do need to bring in the horses if they are off colour, when we have new horses arriving, or for them to have some respite from the mud in winter.  It will also mean that we have more space for the children to interact with the horses on wet days.
