Parkari Community Development Programme UK ( PCDP UK )
Registered Charity Number: 1147345
PCDP UK is a small family-run charity - with no staff or office overheads - supporting holistic community development for the relief of poverty among the Parkari people, some of the poorest of the world's poor.
In the hindu caste system the Parkari people are regarded as outcastes (also called untouchables and Dalits), and due to social marginalization and widespread illiteracy they are socially and economically oppressed. PCDP UK provides a way to link hands directly with some of the world's poor, and help them to help themselves.
PCDP UK works primarily through its local partner organization PCDP in Sindh, Pakistan. PCDP is a grass-roots community-based organization which is run by Parkari people themselves to promote all aspects of development within their own community, including literacy, education, health, and human rights. PCDP is registered with the Government of Pakistan as a non-profitmaking NGO. For further details of PCDP's activities, see www.parkaricdp.org
PCDP UK's key project for 2016 is to provide beds for Parkari students taking vocational training courses at PCDP's Technical Training Centre. For further information, see:
