Thanks to the generosity of Saracens F.C., 50 children and young people enjoyed a thrilling rugby match between one of the best club sides from South Africa, The Blue Bulls, against Saracens FC.

For some of the children it was their first experience of a live rugby match and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The seats had a great view of the pitch and were close enough to the Saracens replacement bench, that they could watch the match and the activity on  the touchline.

Despite this being a “friendly” against a touring side, Saracens put out a very competitive team as they took on Blue Bulls who were packed with world-class players.  The Bulls took an early lead and slowly built on it, but Saracens fought back to close the gap. Those that attend the match were treated to a ten-try thriller, as the Bulls beat Saracens 26-39 to lift the Sanlam Challenge Shield.

Following the match, everyone was allowed onto the pitch to have fun and feel what the synthetic “4G” pitch feels like to run, fall, dive and roll about on.  It also gave the children the chance to grab the odd autograph and photo with some of the players.  Overall, a fantastic day was had by all.
