Jackie's Drop In Centre
Registered Charity Number: 1157193
After taking two and a half years to find somewhere suitable for our members to meet and socialise in a safe environment. We finally secured St Michaels House in the middle of January 2012 with the help from The Heritage foundation. We set to work straight away advertising for donations to fill the building with furniture games etc. In order to keep our members occupied and safe, while in our care. We started with around 6-10 members and now we currently have in the region of 180 members and still growing quite rapidly with a lot of interest by way of advertising and word of mouth.
The way we continue to raise money is by, selling bric a brac, clothes and soft drinks and snacks which all go back into the centre to help with the running costs and activities we are provide.
We also receive donations from the community and this goes towards days out for the members and to do a number of activities with them. A number of companies have been very supportive and helped us with projects and equipment.
We have also had the help from The Princes Trust which have come to visit us on a number of occasions and they get involved with the members doing craft and activities and the members enjoy them coming to visit and vice versa they love coming here to volunteer.
We charge £1.50 entrance fee which includes a drink and biscuit. The members can also bring a ready meal for their lunch and a volunteer will do this for the member. Through donation we have been donated 5 microwaves in order to help us achieve this.
