Please help Hestia to support traumatised and homeless children
Around 750,000 children in the UK witness domestic abuse each year, and 23,000 have to flee with their mothers to live in emergency refuges, such as those provided by Hestia.
We help families to get back on their feet and build a better life after the trauma of domestic violence. In particular, it can leave children feeling confused, lonely and angry. Without support, they are in serious danger of long-term damage, including mental health problems or becoming a victim or a perpetrator of violence in later life.
Our support workers help children to settle into new schools. They organise group activities, so that children can play together and make new friends. Most importantly, they support mums to improve their self-confidence and parenting skills, so that they can help their children to develop in a healthy and happy way.
So please help us today.
