As a nation of animal lovers whose pets are a much-loved part of our families, we naturally take care of them and seek help when they fall ill.  We all want our pets to be treated to the highest standards, however there are still many conditions and diseases that are not fully understood and every day, vets and vet nurses face the heart-wrenching task of managing their distress and pain.

BSAVA PetSavers (the fundraising and grant awarding arm of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association) has been helping the nation’s pets live longer, fuller, healthier lives since 1974.  In those 50 years we have funded ethical, purposeful and sector respected veterinary research in areas as diverse as cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, bone and joint disease, immunological conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, and skin disease – leading to vital breakthroughs in the way our pets are treated.

As PetSavers is one of very few charities dedicated to the study and improvement of pet medicine and surgery there is high demand for our support from the veterinary sector. We rely on voluntary donations from individual supporters, corporate partners and donations from trusts and foundations – we receive no government funding. PetSavers is part of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) charity.  When viewing BSAVA’s records on the Charity Commission website, the total income and expenditure reflects that of BSAVA; BSAVA PetSavers’ income and expenditure is a small part of the total, and details can be provided on request. All BSAVA PetSavers income is restricted to BSAVA PetSavers activities.
