Leave a gift in your Will

May I firstly say thank you and express our deep appreciation to you for kindly remembering Bransby Horses in your Will.

For a gift in a Will to be valid your executor must be able to identify Bransby Horses as the charity you wished to remember. To correctly identify us, our name, address and charity number should be included. Our charity number 1075601 has not changed. So if this was included in your Will your executor will be able to correctly identify Bransby Horses as the charity you wished to benefit and there is no need to change your Will just to alter the name.

If the charity number was not included the old name and address should be enough to enable your executor to identify us, but please check with your solicitor to see whether the gift will still be valid.  If it is not then a simple codicil including the charity number, address and new name would be easy to arrange.

Some solicitors do however add a clause to say that where a charity merges with another or changes its name then the gift will fail, so please do check to see if this has been included. If it has please ask your solicitor if the clause will result in your gift failing and no longer benefiting Bransby Horses as you wished. If this is the case you may decide to ask your solicitor to add a codicil to your Will to ensure that your gift is still valid and gives effect to your wishes. A codicil is cheaper and quicker to prepare than a Will.

If you make a new Will or add a codicil in the future you may then use our new name. If you have any questions relating to any of the above or the wording used in your Will please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be more than happy to help.

With best wishes from Debbie Hall

Make a Pledge

Gifts left in wills are really important to Bransby Horses. However even if you haven't made a will, making a pledge to do so in the future would really help us to find out about your future intentions.
