BRACE was formed in 1987, a pioneering charity in the long battle to overcome dementia through medical science.
Although dementia research funding has improved and scientists have made real progress, much more is needed. For every £10 spent on dementia in the UK, only 8p goes on research.
There are already more people in the world with dementia than there are people in Spain, and this number is forecast to treble by 2050. In the UK, the number of people with dementia exceeds the population of Leeds.
BRACE supports world class researchers in universities across South West England and South Wales. They are seeking to understand the complex causes of dementia, researching ways of diagnosing dementia earlier and more accurately and, of course, working to develop new treatments.
This vital work must continue if we are to lift the threat of dementia from future generations.
Making a donation or leaving a legacy to BRACE will be an investment in all our futures.
