halow Heads to The Hills

On 30th July halow's young people went llama trekking and were joined by members of NCS The Challenge. The relatively new scheme, formed by the National Citizen Services (NCS) and national charity The Challenge, provides an opportunity for 15-17 year olds to improve their life & work skills through exciting activities.

halow's young people were extremely excited as they set off to trek in the beautiful Surrey Hills. Once the coach arrived both groups got to know one another and immediately hit it off.  Each halow young person was paired with a member of the NSC and together they completed the trek on a wonderfully sunny day. It was a brilliant opportunity for everyone to interact and bond.

People soon overcame their fears of the llamas as halow supporter Julie, of Surrey Hills Llamas, was very helpful and supportive. She took extra care and time to ensure each group of young people felt comfortable. The trek was hugely successful with one young person saying, "It was the best thing I've ever done. The llamas were cool."

It was even more inspiring and kind when the NCS members volunteered their time to raise awarness and funds for halow in Guildford high street the next day.

Thank you to NCS The Challenge for all their hard work and joining us on the llama trek, we hope you had an excellent day. Thanks also to Julie who runs SHL and the picturesque halow supporter pub, the Merry Harriers.
