TECHO is a youth led, non-profit organisation, present in 19 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. Through the joint work of families living in extreme poverty and youth volunteers, TECHO aims to overcome poverty in slums. 

Our operation was founded in Chile in 1997. In 2001 we began our organisation’s expansion across Latin America, opening our most recent branch in Venezuela, at the end of 2010.  In Latin America we currently work in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. We also have offices in the United States and United Kingdom. 

TECHO’s institutional goal is to overcome the poverty in which Latin America’s most excluded populations live in across the region’s most deprived slums. To achieve this, TECHO’s working model is driven by the joint-work and interaction of slum residents and youth volunteers, who combine to create concrete solutions to the issue of poverty.
