International Day of Happiness

Date Posted: 20 Mar 2014

Today is International day of happiness. During our recent wellbeing workshops we asked pharmacists what made them happy and their top responses were:

  • Helping patients
  • Making a difference
  • Being part of a team
  • Learning new things
  • Spending time with friends and family
  • Exercising or taking part in a sporting activity
  • Having a bit of ‘me time’
  • Getting outside and enjoying scenery and sunshine
  • Watching films, reading books or listening to music
  • Going on holiday
  • Eating some great food and having a laugh with some good friends

Happiness and positive thinking is a great way to boost your wellbeing.

Martha Washington once said:

“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.”

The team at Pharmacist Support have been thinking about what makes them happy.

Petra says:

“Lying on the beach with a good book at the end of a nice day, listening to the waves, enjoying the last rays of sun and feeling the wind in my hair. That truly makes me feel elated (that and seeing my children happy of course).”

Paulette says:

“Running outside makes me happy. Rain? Wind? Bring it on! Being out there in the elements rather than watching from my sofa reminds me how good it feels to be alive.”
