KidsOut visits The Lion King

Date Posted: 28 Jan 2016

“The Lion King was amazing and the mums and children that attended from our refuges had an excellent time,” said Anna, a Hestia refuge worker.

On the 27th of January, 50 children and 36 adults attended Disney’s The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre in London. An elaborate production featuring colourful sets and puppet-work, the show was enjoyed tremendously by the children and carers alike. “We had really good seats and the show itself was so exciting,” said Anna. “The children were singing and dancing and clapping, and were talking about the show all the way home, discussing their favourite parts.”

One of London’s most popular shows, The Lion King has played in the West End for the past 17 years and is the top-earning title in box-office history for both stage productions and films.

"This is the first time in me and my son's life that we saw theatre," said one of the mums. "It was a great day, thank you."

Thanks to the generosity of Disney Theatrical Group, the families attended the performance through the KidsOut Fun Days service, and another 100 children and carers are scheduled to attend at the beginning of February.
