KidsOut Hosts Famous Sporting Quiz in London

Date Posted: 22 Apr 2016

Held at the Lancaster London on the 21st of April, the KidsOut Question of Sport London event raised more than £80,000 for disadvantaged children.

Hosted by radio presenter and entertainer Mike Osman, the black-tie event raised awareness for the plight of children living in refuge, and encouraged guests to help bring happiness back into their lives. Sky Sports’ Paul Merson acted as quiz master, with King and Spalding taking the Champions league title home as winners, and Stephenson Harwood winning the Europa league.

More than 350 guests attended, representing companies such as Navigant, Taylor Wessing, Mishcon de Reya and Persimmon Homes. In addition to the main Question of Sport quiz, guests participated in a raffle, Spot the Ball, and bid on exceptional auction prizes, including a week’s stay in a £3.5 million villa in Ibiza and a holiday in a luxury ski chalet in the French Alps. Outstanding entertainment was also provided by West End Kids, who sang ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ and danced their trademark high kickline to the ‘Match Of The Day’ theme tune.

KidsOut’s Question of Sport events date back to 2001 when KidsOut patron John Parrott was a team captain on the television show. All proceeds from the quiz go directly to helping disadvantaged children in and around the London area.

Each year as many as 20,000 children escape abuse to stay in a domestic violence refuge. KidsOut works closely with refuges to provide these children and others living with similar difficulties the opportunity to have fun and feel like children again.

“It is shocking in this day and age that we still have children suffering on our doorstep,” said Gordon Moulds, CEO of KidsOut.  “Many of the UK’s children have experienced a very dark place, one of violence and even terror. The Question of Sport events are fun and a good time for guests, but they also enable us to share these children’s story and work together to bring the light and joy back into their lives.”
