Harry's Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust (Harry's Hat)

We are a registered charity, founded by the parents of Harry Thwaites. Harry is a beautiful one-year-old little boy, who has born with an arachnoid cyst, causing hydrocephalus.

Since his birth in 2017, Harry has endured 4 brain surgeries and now lives with a permanent shunt. Hydrocephalus is the most common brain condition in children and 1 in 1000 babies in the UK will be born with it. Despite this, it is not a well known condition and there is little research into the condition at present.

The aim of the charity is threefold:

1) To support front-line healthcare professionals to access training to enable them to learn more about the management and treatment of arachnoid cysts and/or hydrocephalus in children

2) To fund research into arachnoid cysts/hydrocephalus and the treatment of these conditions in children

3) To provide support to other families in similar circumstances.
