An amazing team, calling themselves Deaf Runners on the Equator, raised over £7000 by running the Uganda International Marathon course to support Deafway’s work with St Anthony’s School for Deaf Children. Prior to the run, they spent two days at the school, giving presentations about their lives to the pupils, helping to plant vegetables and observing classes.

Sebastian Cunliffe (pictured) ran the full marathon, he told friends:“The Finish. Thank you to everyone who donated, encouraged or supported me in this mission to run a marathon on the Equator. It’s been an amazing end to probably the best week in my life so far which is just brilliant because I know there is so much more to come! Long distance running, travelling and fundraising brings the best out of people and I’m so glad I did this. It was worth it, it really was!! Thank you all of you guys. Xxx”
