Meet Abbie Ferris - A true inspiration to others!

Abbie’s first contact with the Home was when she came to visit her Granddad Ken - then resident of Broughton House.  Time passed by and sadly and inevitably Ken passed away.  However happy knowing that her Granddad had been well cared for and armed with the knowledge that Broughton House was more than just a standard care Home – registered Charity 227864,

Abbie chose to fund raise for Broughton House Charity she loves reading so how better to raise funds than complete a readathon!  During March to mid April 2012 Abbie set herself the challenge of reading 20 books then set about gaining sponsorship.  Abbie later presented Broughton House with the sum £123.00 – A great achievement by all accounts!

Delighted with her own achievements Abbie has this year completed a further readathon of 30 books generating £167.05 for the Home the majority of which she presented personally to CEO - Chris Thomas at the Homes AGM in June.

More recently Abbie baked Oat cookies for Broughton House cake stall at the Home’s “Celebration of Armed Forces” event these sold out in record time as Abbie had the forethought to supply taster samples of the cookies.

Following on from her achievements Abbie has received a letter a letter of recognition from Local MP Jonathan Reynolds and had an invitation to meet the Major of Tameside on Wednesday 3rd July.

If Abbie can achieve this at her age she will most certainly grow to be a very successful awe inspiring individual, I’m sure you will agree.
