halow is extremely pleased to announce that Lady Nimmy Burke – aka the actor Nimmy March, has been appointed as an Ambassador for halow.  She kindly accepted the new role within halow to lend high-profile support to young people with a learning disability. She is passionate about giving children and young people the best possible start in life and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

Nimmy trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since leaving in 1983 she’s made several theatre and television appearances, including a recent role in EastEnders. Nimmy has also just finished filming a cameo part in the 10th series of Waterloo Road to be seen next year. Other appearances include roles in Waking The DeadThe BillLaw and Order UKCoronation Street, and 40 with Eddie Izzard. She also appeared in the remake of the film Moonfleet with Ray Winstone.

An adoptee herself, Nimmy is patron of BAAF, and sits on an Adoption and Permanence Panel as an independent member. She lives in East Sussex with her three children.

Nimmy spoke of her new role within halow: “I have been so impressed by the young people at halow and enjoy seeing the impact of their hard work in achieving their personal goals whatever they may be. I’m delighted to call myself a halow Ambassador to help spread the word on the work the charity does to help create opportunities for young people with a learning disability to live meaningful and fulfilled lives. I’m excited and looking forward to assuming this new role and working with the halow team.”

Our Patron and co-founder Damon Hill OBE added, “I am delighted that Nimmy has agreed to become a halow Ambassador, supporting our work with young people with a learning disability. A well known and loved member of the motorsport social world, Nimmy is the perfect person to help halow breakdown social barriers and put young people with a learning disability in the driving seat and have control over their own lives.”

Thank you to Nimmy for joining halow and helping to spread our very important message.
