“Making a better future for our children, today”

Established in 2012 The Friends of Speckled Wood is an HMRC Registered Charity and Trust set up to restore a disused Woodland and enhance the value of nature in our local children. Our children’s emersion in the Nature is vital and will help the wellbeing of our whole community.

Speckled Wood, Hastings is a Community Asset used by the surrounding population. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speckled Wood, Hastings ,The area was part of a public open space given to the public in the General Management Plan 1930.

Our aims and the future we're building

The aims of the Trust and Charity are simply to obtain the Speckled Wood, Estate for the benefit of the Community and Schools which use it daily as a recreational resource, and to travel safely to one of the three schools in the area. To achieve this we need funding to purchase the land from multiple owners. This is slowly becoming a reality as the cost of the land will fall with this decision process, which is currently happening!

Our long term vision is to place the idea the RSPCA has had with its centres into this woodland providing a classroom and toilet that can be accessed by schools as a central hub. This would be an area of retreat from the woodland in inclement weather whilst providing desperately needed toilets for the community. The School room could be built locally by Academy children as part of their course materials funded from the local community and local premium business.  The Woodland is a vibrant area full of blossoming nature which can readily be explored.

What can you do?

All the children of our local area and the Friends of Speckled Wood really appreciate your help and it’s not just money we are looking for! We’re always looking for people to come on board. Why not help practically?  We are always looking for help with our events, and help in the Woodland making it a better place. There are so many ways you can help and every bit enables us get closer to achieving our goals!
