Who are we and what do we do?

The Teacher Scientist Network (TSN) is a science education charity, established in 1994, and registered with the charity commission in 2002. We strive to enhance science teaching in schools across Norfolk and North Suffolk by bringing 'real-life science' closer to the classroom. To do this we focus our efforts on working closely with teachers via our activities that take an inter-related 3-pronged approach:

1. Linkng teachers and scientists together in long-term sustainable partnerships.

2. Offering access to a large collection of high-quality science resources, working as a lending library; our Kit Club

3. organising high-quality, subject-knowledge focussed Continued Professionsal Development (cpd) for both primary and secondary science teachers

Our challenges:

Our activities address three key issues faced by science teachers - a lack of teacher confidence to teach the science effectively (lack of resources for science teaching and problems of storage and upkeep, and teachers feeling 'out-of-date'

All these issues affect how effectively science is taught and ultimately impact on young people's perceptions and enjoyment of science lessons.
