Aviemore Half Marathon
Oct 15 2017
Oct 31 2017
After several years of relative inactivity, during the course of 2017 I've been trying to get fit by doing some cycling, running and going to the gym. While this has been good fun there was no end target that I was aiming for.
So, after a discussion with a work colleague about fun runs, I decided to enter a half marathon - something I've never undertaken before.
I also thought it would be a great opportunity to raise some money for the charity set up in the name of my late brother-in-law, Neil Mackenzie. His active life put my recent years of inactivity to shame so I think he would approve of the challenge I've given myself.
Over the last few months I've undertaken a training regime to prepare for the event. All has gone well, except for a two week lay-off after a fall where I thought I had broken my ankle. Luckily not!
Anyway, not long to go now. If you would like to sponsor me for my run please do so. All donations will be greatly appreciated. All monies raised will go towards a great little charity which provides outdoor skills training opportunities for teenagers & adults in Scotland and for expedition grants worldwide.
For more information on the charity, visit the website www.theneilmackenzietrust.wordpress.com or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
Thank you, Mark
