About the opportunity

The Stroke Association is looking for Cheer Point Volunteers to dedicate just a few hours of their day to support #TeamStroke as they take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

Volunteer to support #TeamStroke, meet new people and help us rebuild lives.

As a cheer point volunteer, you need to be ready to bring energy, make noise and share love to everyone choosing to ride in support of the Stroke Association.

Not only will you be motivating the team to go that extra mile on the day, but also encouraging them to choose #TeamStroke for their next challenge and inspiring others to take part in our future events. All of this, in turn, will help us fund vital research, campaign for greater awareness and provide better stroke care.

About Stroke Association

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. We provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives. Rebuilding lives after stroke is a team effort. It takes the determination of stroke survivors and carers, the generosity of supporters, like you, and the dedication of the healthcare and research communities to get there.

What we would like from you

  • Help set up the cheer point with balloons, flags and banners so that #TeamStroke dont miss us as they fly by
  • Cheer on the team with messages of motivation and support
  • Be a positive representative of the Stroke Association
  • Have fun, smile, dance, sing, enjoy yourself

What you can expect from volunteering with us

  • Stroke Association T-shirt and cheer props (e.g. cheer sticks, wigs, pom poms)
  • Rewarding experience in supporting the UKs leading stroke charity
  • Gain experience and references to use in future employment and/or education
  • On the day support and briefings from the Event Manager
  • On-the-day expenses paid, up to an agreed amount in line with volunteer guidelines

Practical Considerations

The role of Cheer Point Volunteer at the London Landmarks Half Marathon is for anyone who is enthusiastic about charity and motivated to support people.

You would be an ambassador for the Stroke Association, helping to encourage and cheer on participants taking part in our sporting challenges.

Our exact cheer point location is yet to be confirmed, but should be near Temple Station on the Embankment.

The weather in London can be temperamental and so even though you will be full of energy and moving around a lot, you will be required to have adaptable dress, suitable for all weathers.

About the opportunity

Volunteer to support #TeamStroke in this years Resolution Run series, meet new people and help us rebuild lives together.

Were looking for volunteers to fill a number of roles, from cheering on our amazing participants and making lots of noise as they make their way around the course to being a marshal who will safely direct participants around the course to get them across the finish line, or helping to register these fantastic people before the run starts. All the roles are equally as important and we would really struggle to put on these events without you.

We have opportunities across all of our regions throughout February, March and April 2020. Find your nearest Resolution Run by visiting our website and registering your interest.
