Be a Superhero for St John Day

St John Wales, the country’s leading first aid charity, is asking people to don their superpants, put on their supermasks and become superheroes for the day, to raise money for their lifesaving work.

Tuesday 24 June is St John Day and the charity is encouraging schools and businesses across Wales to dress as superheroes and donate.

The money will be used to help train Welsh schoolchildren in emergency lifesaving skills such as CPR.

Keith Dunn, St John Wales’ Chief Executive said, “As a charity we rely on donations to carry out our lifesaving work. Our volunteers are real-life superheroes. They offer their skills and time to provide first aid right in the heart of their community and they really do save lives.

“We hope people across Wales will join our volunteers in becoming superheroes for the day and give money to help us fulfil our vision to have a first aider on every street in Wales.”

Any school that raises more than £100 on St John Day will get a free first aid training course for an entire class, while any business raising more than £150 will receive a free first aid kit.

Keith said, “Businesses might prefer to dress down for the day, rather than getting into full superhero mode, or hold a bake sale or CPR marathon. We’re encouraging people to do whatever they can to raise money for our lifesaving work at any time between 23-27 June.”
