GEAR 2015 - Woolley-Whitaker's
The Woolley-Whitaker's are running GEAR for SPEADA - Supporting Young People in West Norfolk
May 03 2015
The Bespak Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) is a fast, flat 10k road race through the streets of King’s Lynn.
The race has a UKA licence (licence number 2015 – 13441) and will be staged in accordance with UKA rules for competition. The race is a British Association of Road Races (BARR) Gold Graded event and the organising body is affiliated to BARR (Member No 608), UKA/Run Britain and England Athletics. The event is insured under UKA/Run Britain’s policy. The course has received a certificate of course accuracy from the Association of UK Course Measurers (11/324).
The Bespak Grand East Anglia Run is suitable for all ages and abilities, although runners must be aged 15 or over on race day. The course is accessible for wheelchair entrants.
The 10k this year starts at 10:45am in the Tuesday Market Place in King’s Lynn. Road closures will be in effect on the day, so please check our visitor information page.
There are generous cash prizes and award categories for the event include overall race winners for men and women, wheelchair competitors, juniors under 21, seniors 21 – 39 and veterans over 40 years plus team events. For full details see our Prize List page. All finishers will receive a quality medal and goody bag.
The course record stands at 30 mins 18 secs. Can anyone break that 30 minute barrier?
There is a time limit of 2hrs on the course. This is because of Health and Safety reasons and road closure limitations. Any entrant still out on the course after this time limit, when roads re-open to traffic, will be continuing at their own risk.
Wheelchair racing entrants competing in the wheelchair category must be self-propelled and will start in front of the 10k runners approximately one minute before the official start time. Wheelchair users not able to self-propel themselves around the whole of the 10k may only enter at the discretion of the Race Director. In no circumstances may non self-propelled chairs (e.g. motorised or electric powered wheelchairs) be used in the 10k.
You can enter online now by visiting our how to enter page and see further instructions about the race. And if you’d like to raise money for charity, there are lots of ideas for local charities you might wish to support on our run for charity page.
The course is ideal for spectators with safety barriers lining the course through the town centre, so please bring your friends and family along to cheer you on. Many town centre shops and food outlets will be open on the day.
GEAR is a Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk event sponsored by Bespak. The Borough Council delegates the organisation of the event toAlive Leisure. Alive Leisure, a charitable trust, delivers events and sports development services on behalf of the Borough Council.
GEAR also receives help and support from many local volunteers and organisations without which the event would not be possible.
Alive Leisure, on behalf of the The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, has associate membership to England Athletics (Ref 2662667).
