The donation would be used to upgrade the Sandgate free wifi installed in Sandgate in 2012 with a grant secured from Kent County Council. The current system is serving 1544 residents who have registered from the Sandgate postcodes area of the 5319 population between the ages of 10 and 85 years.

Technology changes very quickly and the upgrade will consist of new fibre to cabinet technology and updated control boxes etc. which would allow an increased broadband speed from up to 15mbps to up to

60mbps which will allow registered users quicker access delivered by new equipment in a more efficient manner.

This will be achieved by:

System redesign to allow an upgrade to the bandwidth currently being brought into the area by fibre to the cabinet technology.

An upgrade of the older Ingenious 802.11g equipment, wherever possible, to 802.11n/802.11ac equipment

Once complete a re-accessment of any areas still not receiving a signal and a plan to introduce.
