Oak Tree Animals’ Charity was founded over 110 years ago by Francis Cox who campaigned for better working conditions for pit ponies and working horses. Since then, the Charity has expanded and now helps thousands of animals each year, providing a safe place for dogs, cats and horses during their time in need.

We rehabilitate and rehome, as well as work within the community to ensure pet owners get the information and resources they need to keep their animals happy, healthy and in good homes. Our ‘A Helping Paw’ pet-fostering programme enables us to provide temporary homes for animals whose owners are homeless or fleeing domestic abuse. We use educational campaigns to raise awareness and change perceptions, hoping to provide a brighter future for animals in all walks of society. Our goal is to improve animal welfare across our region, ensuring that all animals are treated with kindness and respect.

Our Charity’s running costs are only increasing, we must raise over £2.7 million to keep our doors open to animals and owners in need. More than half of the work carried out at Oak Tree is funded by legacies. Without these generous gifts, the vital work we do just wouldn’t be possible. Become a supporter today and see how you can make a difference and help animals in need!
