Top fundraising tips
You’ve set up your Charity Choice page, you are ready to go, what next? To help you in your quest to raise money for your charity, we have come up with some top tips to help your charity event succeed and to get those sponsorship donations rolling in!
Tell a story
Inspire your potential sponsors to donate by telling them your story – it could be why you decided to take part in your event or why you think the charity you have chosen deserves their support. You can contact your charity to get help with this - they will be able to tell you what your fundraising will mean to them and what it will help them to do.
Get help from your charity
Don’t forget that a lot of charities have ready made fundraising packs and charity merchandise such as badges, banners or stickers which could all help you with your fundraising efforts– just ask them – they will be thrilled to hear you are helping them raise money for the charity!
Shout about it!
Posting regular news updates is a great way of keeping your friends and family up-to-date with your hard work – and gently reminding them to sponsor you! On your Charity Choice fundraising page you can post as many updates as you want.
It’s easy to link your fundraising page with Facebook and other social media sites on Charity Choice. You can share your updates and photos just by clicking on the icons on the pages. If you have a Twitter account, you can post regular mini-updates on your progress. Encourage all your followers to re-tweet to gain as much exposure as possible.
Personalise your email signature
Why not add a link direct to your fundraising page to your email signature – work (if it’s allowed) or personal. Just copy and paste the url of your Charity Choice fundraising page. That way, with every email you send, people will have the chance to find out more about your fundraising activity.
Local newspapers are always looking for interesting stories. Why not get in touch and tell them what you are doing and what has motivated you to do it. To get yourself noticed add some nice pictures if you can and you may get some valuable media coverage.
Fundraise at Work
Post your event on work notice boards, get it published on your intranet or company newsletter. Don’t forget to include the link to your fundraising page!! Ask your boss if you can promote your company by wearing a t-shirt with a company logo for a donation! Some companies also match your donations – be bold - you won’t get if you don’t ask!!
Remember Charity Choice now makes it easier to support your favourite charities. You can volunteer, donate your unwanted items, donate cash, or fundraise for charity all in one place.
