Warhol exhibition raises £15,000 for KidsOut

Date Posted: 09 Dec 2015

“Warhol remains a point of fascination for people,” said Patrick Moore, Managing Director at The Andy Warhol Museum. “Things he was talking about then remain relevant and at the centre of society today.”

On the 8th of December, KidsOut was hosted in a special charity reception of Warhol in London: Behind the lens of William John Kennedy. A month long pop-up exhibition on Chiltern Street, the event features over 20 black & white and colour photographs of Andy Warhol with his artwork and will run until the 20th of December.

Until recently laid hidden in a dusty box, the photographs depict Warhol on the cusp of his fame and were taken as part of a series by Kennedy of emerging artists with their work. “At the museum, we are always looking for new ways to tell Warhol’s story,” said Moore. “Kennedy’s photographs give a different way to access Warhol.”

The exhibition is the first time the collection has ever been displayed in the United Kingdom since its unveiling in Miami Beach in 2010, and provides a rare opportunity to view the photographs and purchase the limited edition gelatine silver and colour prints from the collection.

As one of the hosted charities, KidsOut raised more than £15,000 in its special evening to help disadvantaged children. The charity would like to extend special thanks to the KIWI Arts Group, Michael Huter, Neil Bookatz and the A&D Gallery for their combined efforts in organising and hosting the event, and ensuring it was a success.
