KidZania shows 65 children a whole new world

Date Posted: 05 Apr 2016

“We had the best time,” said Jane, a refuge worker with Hestia. “I was with a group of twenty children, and I know that they will remember it for the rest of their lives!”

On the 29th of March, 65 children and their adults visited London’s KidZania for a day of fun and excitement. Featuring 60 real-life role-play activities, KidZania is a child-sized city that teaches children essential life skills and empowers them to explore.

Arriving at 10 a.m. for the fun and games, the group was comprised of children from refuges across London, including families supported by charity Hestia.

“I would just like to say a massive 'THANK YOU' for today,” said Karen, a Hestia refuge worker. “The kids had such a good time they did not want to leave. Most of us eventually left around 3 p.m., but I actually left one family there just walking around and taking in the environment…they told me they finally came out at 4.30 p.m.!”

KidsOut provided lunch for the families so the children could concentrate on progressing in their “careers,” studying at “university” and earning enough “money.”

“Overall the day was excellent and I've already had requests for another visit,” said Karen. “It was lovely to see the kids taking in the values being taught and learning to work for their ‘money’ or deciding to go back to ‘university.’ The whole concept of KidZania is amazing; I really wish that I was under 14 so I could have taken part!”
