FedEx collects 422 new Toy Boxes

Date posted: 20 Jan 2016

On the 20th of January, FedEx sent an 18-tonne lorry to collect 422 toy boxes from the KidsOut head office to store in Stanstead for the KidsOut Toy Box service. Filled through extra donations to Giving Tree 2015, the boxes ranged in ages from birth to 13 years old and included fun, educational toys to be delivered to children who have almost nothing.

Sustained through donations and the generosity of FedEx, the KidsOut Toy Box service provides toys and games to children who have either witnessed or been victims of domestic violence. Having escaped abuse for the safety of a refuge, often with only the clothes on their backs, the children and their guardian are eventually relocated to a new home to start again. To reduce the anxiety and fear of moving into a strange community, KidsOut provides each child with a box of toys, welcoming them to their new lives.

KidsOut receives new requests for Toy Box every day, relying completely on FedEx for their dispatch. “The support we receive from FedEx is outstanding and enables us to help so many more children,” said Sandra Doherty, Head of KidsOut Children’s Services. “We sincerely appreciate the continued dedication of FedEx and its employees to making life a little brighter for the children we serve.”
