Relay Challenge #GADOYT
At Interserve we consider that it is important to provide a way for all employees and business partners to be able to make a difference to the less privileged in the community, in the simplest, most effective way possible.
The Interserve Employee Foundation is our way of making this aspiration a reality.
The Foundation is run by the employees. The ultimate aim is to enable the skills, capabilities, resources and enthusiasm of Interserve employees to be used in improving the quality of life and life chances for people in the Communities in which we live and operate.
WHAT WE DO:
The IEF encourages and facilitates both UK based and international employees in actively engaging in community and charitable activities. This is achieved through:
- Receiving monetary donations from employees, Interserve Plc, suppliers and customers to finance employee run charitable projects.
- Capturing and sharing charitable activities from across the group, inspiring employees to give back to their communities.
Ambassadors from across the business promote the aims of the Foundation and mobilise employees for local projects, in particular through the Give a Day of Your Time initiative.
'Give A Day Of Your Time’ is a company-wide scheme in which employees can request up to two days of leave for assisting with a local community project or charity. The initiative forms a core element of our SustainAbilities goals, which includes a target to achieve 15 percent of employees donating time to benefit local communities by 2016.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
The charities and good causes supported by IEF reflect the wide scope of our operations and of the interests and concerns of our staff.
Some examples of this recent support include:
- Our colleagues in the Philippines joined the Typhoon Haiyan relief effort by using their skills and equipment to set up temporary shelter for displaced people. Fundraising to help people find alternative accommodation took place across the Group raising more than £20,000 in just two weeks
- Supporting the Big Book Drop for Literacy for Life, a charity aimed at improving the life chances of,disadvantaged children in the territories where we work. To date, more than 50,000 books have been collected in the UK, which have been sent to schools in the Philippines, South Africa, India and Chile
- Funding the building of a £25,000 cycle track for Pathways Primary School in Yorkshire, a school for children with special needs and which offers specialist resources for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
