Sponsored Walk for Free Respite Care
May 14 2017
Our 2017 Respite Care Walk starts in Minchinhampton at the Community Library. It takes in Gatcombe Wood, before passing through Avening into Avening Court, with its stunning gardens and natural water features. The walk continues from Avening to the Weighbridge Inn and then up through Holcombe Glen and Box Wood and back to the Library via Minchinhampton Common.
Whether you do the full 10 miles, or just a few, you will do so knowing that any money you raise will be supporting the cost of the Free Respite Care Service at Horsfall House.
THE ROUTE: This sponsored walk has been specifically selected for its variety and interest, giving walkers the opportunity to go through areas not normally available to the general public. These areas include the stunning woodland of Gatcombe and the beautiful waterside gardens at Avening Court.
TERRAIN: The terrain is mixed with well used paths, public rights of way, limited sections of public roadway, private pathways, stiles, slight to steep inclines and in some places, depending on weather beforehand, potholes. You should be aware that it may be muddy and uneven in places. Please note the walk is not suitable for
buggies, pushchairs or toddlers. Dogs welcome but must be kept on short leads in Gatcombe Wood and Avening Court.
PARKING: Parking will be available in the Bell Lane car park and will be clearly sign-posted.
MINIBUS: Please note that a minibus is available at Avening Village Hall (untill 4pm), to ferry you back to the library, if you wish.
