Changing Traditional Burial Practices in Sierra Leone

Date posted: 06 Jan 2015

We are currently developing a public information initiative with two of our partners in Koinadugu, Grassroots Education & Development for Women (GEDeW) and Menís Agenda for National Development (MAND). We want to change the way villagers look after people who fall sick and stop them from touching or washing the bodies of the dead (with Ebola, bodies become highly infectious). We want to encourage local leaders to develop their own local bye-laws to help prevent Ebola from spreading.

The photo is of GEDeW's learning circle in Fasawaya. It was taken on our last visit, just before the Ebola outbreak.
