Hi! My name is Ola and in August 2013, at the age of 32, I've been diagnosed with cancer of unknown primary. Since then my life has turned upside down and I've been living in constant uncertainty. I've had chemo and radiotheraphy, accompanied by several surgeries but my cancer keep popping up now and again. Despite all that I've been trying to live my normal life and enjoy it to the full. I have been really lucky to have met lots of amazing people who introduced me to some great charities, that help people living with cancer. One of them is 'Shine Cancer Support' which is a network for young adults living with cancer. They are simply wonderful, providing information and peer support for people in their 20s, 30s and 40s who've been affected by cancer.
This year I am taking part in their 'Great Escape', which is an opportunity for men and women in their 20s, 30s and 40s to meet others our age affected by cancer, to explore issues which are of importance to us and – most importantly – to have fun.
Participants at Shine's 2015 'Great Escape' are being challenged to complete a route encompassing Hengitsbury Head in Dorset. It is a 5k trekking and I know it may sound easy to many healthy people but it certainly might be a challenge to some of us on this cold and windy February day.
Please help me support more young adults dealing with a cancer diagnosis by sponsoring me to complete this challenge!!!
