Kate & Justin Rose Foundation
My wife and I are long standing supporters and fundraisers for Cancer Research UK having raised funds for many years. Sadly, both Kate and I have lost a parent to cancer; Ken Rose to Leukemia In 2002, and Patsy Phillips to breast cancer in 1992. This common bond has driven us to do all we can to support cancer charities whom rely on the generosity of the public to fund their research. Cancer Research supports a broad spectrum of studies into the biology and genetics of Leukemia, as well as developing treatments and better diagnosis for breast cancer.
Alongside our involvement in raising funds for this research, we are also associated with Blessings in a Backpack. The objective of which is to ensure impoverished children receive proper nourishment, which results in their ability to learn. We are currently supporting 1,500 students within 5 schools. Through this programme, we have since seen school grades and attendance rise. Last year, Kate and I launched the Kate and Justin Rose Foundation, to continue our fundraising for our chosen charities which can make an impact on both sides of the Atlantic.
We want to make a difference to the lives of people suffering with cancer, and reach out to provide children with first time exposures they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience. The money we raise will enable us to extend the reach of those impacted by our campaigns.
Paul Lawrie Foundation
The Paul Lawrie Foundation was launched in 2001 by Paul, two years after he famously won the 1999 Open Championship at Carnoustie. The aim of the Foundation is to introduce juniors from all walks of life to the game of golf, from grass route level to youths. Through tuition and professional guidance, the assistance offered by the Paul Lawrie Foundation enables youngsters to realise their full potential. The programmes operate on a national level to include first class clinics with top PGA professionals, including Paul himself as well as regular competitions which enable the youngsters to ultimately develop, and inherit the values and etiquette of the game into everyday life. The Foundation has already been credited in Scottish communities for increasing activity levels as well as ensuring that every child is provided with the opportunity to participate. It has generated boys and girls of all ages who have gone on to represent their Country on an international level, and later play on Tour. The ultimate goal is to one day encompass all of this and to nurture a Major Champion.
