World Water Day is observed each year on 22 March.  The day, which was established by the United Nations was first celebrated in 1993 to celebrate the importance of freshwater around the globe.

Over 45% of the world's land surface is covered by river basins, and over 75% of all countries have their boundaries within shared river basins.

All around the world events will be held to celebrate freshwater and promote its sustainability, and every year there is a different theme.  The theme for 2014 is "Water and Energy".

Why not explore charities on Charity Choice that are Water related to find out more or why not donate to these charities. If a charity has a donate button you can also fundraise for these charities via Charity Choice.
