You can walk a full or half marathon and raise money for research into new treatments for all types of cancer, OR raise money specifically for one of 12 cancer types.
“Everyone is here for the same reason, and that’s what carries you through to the end of the walk.” Andy, Shine 2012 Participant

Getting to London
ShineLondonwill start and finish at Battersea Power Station on Saturday 28 September. You will walk an incredible route around the City so you can see iconic landmarks lit up at night-time. We recommend arriving at Shine in plenty of time to make the most of this fun and unique evening.
Arrival and start times are different for the full and half marathons. Please make sure you refer to the correct start time for your walk distance.
A course map will be available to download here approximately two weeks before the event and a copy will also be handed out on the night.
The map will give you all the information you need to walk your full or half marathon, including the route, directions, mile markers, pit stops (with food and drink to keep you going), toilets and emergency contacts.
Start with a bang - get your friends and family together to show their support as you cross the start line. Or get them to help you celebrate as you cross the finish line. Don’t forget to encourage them to come dressed up in ‘lights’ as well. Or better yet get them to show their support for Shine by volunteering on the night!
There is no parking near the venue we strongly recommend you use public transport to and from your Shine event.
Please plan your route before your event to make sure that you arrive on time. Ensure that you spend some time working out what your approximate finish time might be and plan your journey home at this time accordingly - please bear in mind that some public transport will not be running over night so it is best to not assume it is!

Alternatively you may want to look up some mini cab numbers to take you home or ask a relative or friend to come and pick you up – it would be an early morning for them but it might be their way of showing their support!
