Following on from the success of Bristol Nightrider in 2016, we are very excited to be coming back in 2017. Bristol is the UK's first cycling city, so it's a great choice for a Nightrider city. Anyone who did the ride in 2016 will tell you, it's a hilly one! There is no escaping the Bristol hills, but it makes for a tough, and fun, challenge.
New for 2017 there are 2 distances available - a 100km and a 50km ride. The ride is designed as two 50km loops with a centrally located start / break / finish point.
Full support, back up and regular break stops are provided throughout the night and a well-earned breakfast and medal at the finish.
We're currently working on a new Bristol route for 2017, which will be quite different to the 2016 one. The 2017 map will be uploaded in January 2017. About a month prior to the event we will release the GPS of the route and the full map. Please note the Nightrider route is subject to change.
We will design the route to avoid busy roads where possible and to cycle in the city centre later on in the night, when there will be less traffic. However there will be some busier sections so please ensure you are confident cycling on the road. The roads are not closed.
All of the route is streetlit, except for a short section in Clifton. This is an amazing part of the ride with stunning views, so we wanted to include it. You will therefore need good lights that can light the way as well as make you visible to others. We will have a marshal there to ensure nobody is on their own in this section.
