Located on the North Eastern tip of Tanzania Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the world's highest peaks and the setting for a truly amazing charity trek!
Join us as we trek towards the picturesque snow capped peaks and observe the natural beauty of the Tanzanian landscape. You'll be trekking through a blend of diverse terrains from jungle to volcanic craters before reaching the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak.
This is an amazing opportunity to trek Kilimanjaro and one of the most beautiful parts of Africa over 11 days and climb to heights of over 5500 meters!
The following gives you a brief taste of the challenge ahead but for more detailed information please do not hesitate to contact one of the Overseas Team on 020 7424 5511.
Number of days:
10 days(9 nights)
The temperature at the base of the mountain will be very different to what you'll experience as you climb higher. In general you can expect temperatures between 16-34C however this will decrease as you climb and will get a lot cooler at night. The climb will take you through different micro climates from tropical to desert and all the way through to glacial at the summit!
Flights and all internal travel, accommodation, all meals during trekking days, water, local guides, Skyline Tour Leader and UK Doctor. Camping equipment is provided, except sleeping bag and mat.
What's not included:
Personal travel insurance, airline taxes (due to their fluctuating nature we will confirm this amount 6-8 weeks before departure; for this trip we estimate these will be £<%=strSurcharge%>), local tips, 2 meals, and any additional activities.
Passport & Visas:
A valid ten-year passport with at least one year to run is essential. Entry into Tanzania requires a visa for most nationalities, including UK citizens. At the current time this costs £40 available in person or by post from the Tanzanian High Commission or on arrival in Tanzania at US$50 cash, two passport photos will be needed. Skyline will send your instructions on how and when to apply for your visa approximately 3 months before the trip departs.
We recommend you are vaccinated against Hepatitis A, Typhoid & Polio. You must have had a Tetanus injection in the last 10 years. To gain entry to Tanzania you must provide a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, which should be carried with you at all times. Yellow Fever is compulsory for all passengers coming from a connecting flight from Kenya or Ethiopia. Malaria prophylactics are recommended for the lower elevations, despite being at altitude for much of your trek. As always you should contact your GP or travel clinic for the latest information.
Being a tropical country, fresh fruit and vegetables are plentiful and are often used in traditional dishes such as stews and rice dishes. Most dietary requirements can be catered for, please advise us at point of booking.
Before and after the trek you will stay in 2-3* hotels. During the trek you will be camping on the mountain. Both will be on twin basis sharing with someone of the same gender and similar age when possible.
