Grand Départ - Yorkshire Tour Challenge (July 2014)
Jul 03 2014
Jul 05 2014
The organisers say:
In 2014 the Tour de France, one of the most famous and gruelling sporting events in the world, makes its Grand Départ from Leeds in Yorkshire.
Participants ride the route of the first stage, from Leeds to Harrogate, the day before the Tour starts. Participants stay overnight on the outskirts of Leeds, making it very easy to get the the Grand Départ the next morning, cheering the world's best cyclists onto the route you will have already conquered!
The 120-mile route itself is tough, taking in the twisting, narrow stone-walled roads of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With some challenging climbs, you'll need to ensure you are fit enough to manage the distance and the terrain. Experiencing the extreme buzz of the Tour de France the next day will be just reward for your efforts.
