This is one of the oldest and biggest marathons in Germany and attracts many participants from all over the world. The race has also been awarded the highly respectable Gold Label status by the International Association of Athletic Federations. Course highlights include going past or viewing: Messeturn; Platz der Republik; Alte Oper; Hauptwache, Borse; Eschenheimer Turm; Borneplatz; Bologaro Palast; Friedrich-Ebert-Siedlung; Galluswarte; Festhalle; Alte Brucke; Neubau Portikus and Messehalle. Overall the course is very flat, wide and circular.
